"The Verdict That Never Comes" (Fiction) - Part #2

(For Those, Who Haven't read The First Part, Should Read the First Part #1, to get to know the story)

Here Comes The Part #2...

With Judge leaving the premises, a man standing in the corridor says, "You did a wonderful job sir, a wonderful job".

"Wonderful Job?" Is it?, The Judge says.
The Judge knocks the door, where all the jury members were sitting, The door opens, the Judge says..

"What you have seen is a complex & mind-tingling case of a murder. You know, what kind kind of Murder it is? No?, this is a case of pre-meditated murder & you know what, Pre-meditated murder is the most serious crime in our criminal courts. You have seen the trial, heard all the things, you have had the law being read to you, now it's up to you to clear the facts from the other things. You see, their is a lot at stake, a man is dead, a man's fate is being compromised. If you all feel that their is a reasonable doubt of the man is guilty or not, i need a straight verdict, with all of you having the same verdict or else you will have more nights in this room. The death sentence is mandatory in this case. So, their is a great responsibility on your shoulders. Thankyou, Gentlemen..!!"

The Judge, leaves the room..

As the door closes, Mr. M.K, Kapoor (Juror #1) stands in anger, "Why the hell you have to be so concerned about this boy, when we have all the information against the boy?, why we have to sit here for a case, which is over & have the full day wasted by this?"

Mr Raina (Juror #6), "Why are you so eager to make the boy the killer, why are you in so much of anger, arrogance? Did you take this decision by yourself, by any means of thinking about it?, No, you didn't, all you had in your mind, were the tickets of the movie you have in your pocket, which you would be seeing & enjoying, even when you don't know that the boy is guilty or not, because of which the boy would have been given a death sentence, Can you live with That??"

"How dare you say that, about me?, I am one of the finest lawyers this country has now" Kapoor said..
"Aaah, so the arrogance has taken all over you, Mr Kapoor", If you are the finest lawyer, why you think so little about this case?" Mr Tendulkar (Juror #3) said..
"Oh, Shut up, both of you..!!" It's like cats & dogs running on the streets, Mr Pankaj said.. (Juror #5)

Here's what would have happened have happened, as we heard in the trial from the witness, the old man, which reached the door in 15 seconds & then saw, the boy in front of the body.. said, Mr Kapoor.. (Juror #1)
"The old man, heard the fight between the boy & his father. Then, it was silent, but after sometime he heard the voice of a body hitting the floor, heard the women scream across the street & heard somebody racing down to the stairs & he got to the door as fast he can & *assumed* it was the boy".

(Juror #4) Mr Mehta - Yaa, i think, that happened..

(Juror #6) Mr Raina - "Assumed"?, as he smiles..
Sir, I have seen dishonesty all this day, but what you said now is the most hideous & stupidest thing, i've ever heard.

(Juror #2) Mr. Ajit Parekh - Yess, he is guilty..!! what Kapoor said, is right, i also feel this way..

(Juror #1) Mr. Mk Kapoor - "What's the matter with all you guys? The boy is guilty. He has to bear the consequences. You are letting him slip through your fingers?"

(Juror #6) Mr Raina - "Slipping through your fingers"? What are you, are you the boy's executioner?

(Juror #1) Mr Mk Kapoor - "Yes, I'm one of , THEM?"

(Juror #6) Mr Raina - "Perhaps you would love to see him Die?"

(Juror #1) - Yess..!! I would love to see him die because he has this derogatory thing.."

(Juror #6) - "Oh god, i feel so-so sorry for you, sir..!! Ever since you came to this room fro the court room, you are acting as some, self-appointed public prosecutor who is trying to be a public-avenger. but you know what, you only want to see the boy die for your personal reasons, not by knowing facts!!

(Juror #1) - (stands angrily from his chair & makes way to Juror #6, all the jurors stand top hold him back)
"I will Kill him, I will surely Kill him"

Juror #6) - You really want to kill me, really??

Juror #6) Mr Raina -  (When he sees no one is on his side, he decides to have a last vote excluding himself)

Everyone casts vote, everyone is feeling sloppy, confused..!!
Now it's time to see the votes.., Raina said..

1 - Guilty
2 - Guilty
3 - Guilty
4 - Guilty
5 - Guity
7 - Guilty
8 - Guilty
9 - Guilty
10 - Guilty
11 - Guilty
12 - Not Guilty..!!
Everyone is shocked..!! What the hell, said Mr Mk Kapoor..

(Juror #11) stands & says, "This is my Vote..!!"
"Why??"

(Juror #11) - I feel, there's more to this, how can we as a man try to prove a man guilty, when we are not sure of it. You are believing to an old man, who said that he cannot see without the glasses & he was not wearing glasses when he opened the door..!! Are we really suppose to believe this?? No, i don't, that's why, I vote, NOT GUILTY..!!

After listening to this, Juror 8 & 9..!! Stand & say, we also change our votes to not guilty..!!
Juror #1, in complete disbelief... "What??", You are all in denial..

In Denial??, Juror 11 said..

(Juror #11) - What is their to believe in this to call this boy "Guilty" of a murder. Not just a murder, but murder of his own father. Are we suppose to believe that woman, who said that i saw both, father & son we fighting with each ther, across the rail-strips & street, then train passed from infront of her, blocking her view to see further & the rain passes by he sees the body of the father on the floor, with boy running down the stairs & coming close to him, with a knife in his hand & she screamed.. Do we really get to know, that he murdered his father & we are suppose to believe this women, who didn't see the crime but only accusing the buy, because of knife, he had in his hand..!!

(Juror #8) - Everybody keeps talking about the weapon, the knife, the boy had in his hands when he was close to body. But, no one talking about the knife, which was procured from the scene just besides the body, with some blood stains on it, with the finger prints of the father. It can be a case of suicide, because of the fight he had or in the circumstances he is living, in the slums in all this poverty...!!

So, that is our final call, Not Guilty..!! Now, its,  8-4, in favor of Guilty..!!

"The Verdict That Never Comes" (Fiction) - Part #1

Well, this is my 1st trial at a "Fiction" story & it is based on a story i've heard, but i want to tell you what i think of it & how i would have written it. So, the title is "The Verdict That Never Comes".

The story revolves upon a 19 year old boy who is accused of murdering his own Father & 12 Jury Members in a Court who have been assigned by court to decide whether the boy is guilty or not.

"Order, Order" the judge said. "Maintain Silence, please".

"I'm not Guilty", i haven't done anything my lord, the accused boy said. With tears in his eyes.

"He is guilty, my lord", those tears are crocodile tears. He has a history of close calls in car thefts & gambling. After, spending 1.5 years in the Rehabilitaion Centre, we are seeing, that hasn't worked for him. With all the hideous things you have done in the past & most important of all, we have that weapon you used to murder your father, with your fingerprint on it. Now tell me, Are we suppose believe you?, Mr Kapoor, screamingly said.

Judge - "We see there is a decision coming, I give you all a time of 1 hour to take your decision. All 12 of you. The court is adjourned for 1 hour.

All The 12 Jury members meet in a room & all take this decision that "The Boy is Guilty of the Murder". Mr. Kapoor, said, "We have to give the decision really fast as i have promised my wife to be on time for the Movie", All the others, laughed at this, They all move to the court room, taking the decision that the boy is guilty. All gather in the court, The Judge asks, "Now, i would like to know the decision of all the Jury members, "Is the boy, Guilty?"

Mr M.K. Kapoor - Yes, my lord..!! The boy is guilty.
Mr Tendulkar - I second Mr Kapoor, my lord. The boy is guilty.
Mr Ajit Parekh - Guilty, My lord..!!
Mr Pankaj - Guilty, my lord!!
Mr Mehta - Yess, Sir..!!
Mr. Sharma - The boy is guilty, my lord..!!

B.k. Kapoor, Mr Manchandani, Mr Verma, Mr Rawat & Mr. Fernandes, all say, "Yess, the boy is guilty!!"

"What do you say, Mr Raina?", the judge asked... Mr. Raina, looked confused, a strange emotion has come on his face & mind. All the other Jury members, The judge, the accused & all present in the court kept on looking at him. With a loose & trembling voice, he says, "No", my lord, I don't think that he is guilty. The jurors were shocked. The Judge asks, "What makes you believe that?" After all the things are against him. Raina replied, "There is so much at stake in this for him to go along with the verdict without at least talking about it". All the jury members feels annoy at this statement of Mr Raina, specially Mr M.K. Kapoor, who has tickets for a new Sanjay Leela Bhansali, movie.

With, Judge not satisfied with this result & not getting the mandate of all Jury members. He gives all the jury members a direction & gives them 24 hours to give their verdicts with the mandate of all the jury members.
All the jury members get frustrated & are forced to go into a private room to talk about this matter. All the members get into the room & he door is locked from the inside. With All the Jury members frustrated by the fact that they have the weapon with which the victim is murdered & the accused fingerprints on it, other than Mr Raina. They start the meeting & they all start to give their opinions.
