It's been a year that "Nirbhaya's Rape Case" happened, the brave girl who fought for her life for a hideous & brutal crime committed by our so called "Traditional" Society's jerks. It's been a year of the outrage, the people showed on this system of our country. People say, that "Our laws are not appropriate, that can provide tough punishment to these criminals or Police, doesn't do their work properly", to an extent it is Correct..!! That, If there would be laws that are strict & it would bring some fear in the minds of these types of criminals. But, I think that is not the whole story..!! Well, i'll come to this point ahead in this post.
Today, im not gonna talk about, how to deal with this & that, today i'm gonna talk about what "WE" got & learned after the incident. Do we really feel, the people of "INDIA" has learned something, after this?. It's like, Delhi/NCR region has become "Bermuda Triangle" for getting justice, if some crime has happened, Justice is just impossible for you to find. But, how can we find justice when the "POLICE" are also not on the people's side, i heard it somewhere, At that time, "TEHELKA" did a sting operation in various police stations in NCR region, a policemen in Noida, when asked why such things happen?, He said, "You see, Girls wear short clothes, to which it exhilerates & attracts people & their mind says that, "Just Do It" or like he said in hindi, "Ki Kardo Bas". Arre kya yeh koi, Raghu-Rajiv ke "Roadies" ka task hai ki kardo bass. This is the state of our Police & when we cannot say anything about laws & all, we blame it on the "West" or "Westernization" . We hear all the people saying, "We are relying & following the "WEST" too much, we are forgetting our traditions & culture. I just feel, We, Indians, know everything but still trying to be unknown to such things. What, Western culture we are talking about, We, Indians, gave the world a book on "Love & Sex" nd guys, if you are saying you don't know about, you are fooling yourselves, we taught the world how to make love, not just love, passionate love. So think that, "When this western world was busy in giving us beneficiary things like , "Telephone", "Light Bulb", Electricity" & even more, we were busy in giving the various permetations & combinations of human body. Did children were born, through some natural process like "Photosynthesis" or "Tyndall Effect" in India.
We also talk with girls, we see them too. but, it all depends upon the "mentality" of the people. A guy with a clean mentality will see a girl, but would never think to do anything against her. He will just say that she is "Beautiful" & i feel, all the beautiful things & people, they beauty of them should be appreciated. But, a guy with sick mentality would do anything to please himself or to get what he needs & this the main thing "Mentality" of the people. that was the thing i was talking about in the 1st paragraph. Strict laws & Police Protection, will solve the problem to only a mere extent to a level, but nothing cannot be done until people don't change their mentalities. You can provide police on the outside or we can know about such crimes which gets covered by the media. But, what anyone can do of such crimes being committed behind the closed doors, you cannot appoint police offices inside the houses of the people. Let me give an example & some of it, may not like this but it's the truth, "A small child living in a house where the male members of the family dominates the female members of the family, doing all the hideous things & thinking that if he also does like this, the girl he is going to get married with will also be, below her & not say anything." & THIS IS THE TRUTH..!!
It's been a year after that brutal crime was committed, people went out to the roads with slogans, with anger & i was also one of them, got bashed, bruised, everything, but didn't even bothered to held back as it's not just for that 1 girl, it was for all of us. Our sisters, Our Friends, Our Mothers & All Of Us. But, still these crimes are committed, just because of the "perverted" minds of the people & most of them are "illiterates". I don't know, when the people, who wear such modern clothes, will change their sick-old mentalities & would kill their girl-child, even before when they are born. They don't understand that they were also born through a
lady & if that time she would have taken the decision to kill you, you would have not been able to see this world. I still feel angry, when someone says "Girls should wear proper clothes" or "They should not go out after 8pm", if that's the case, "Dress up a lady politician in same clothes & let her wander through the streets at mid-night, no one will dare to touch her, u know why, No, not because they are ugly, but because then, there will be "consequences".
At, last i would like say, "Girls", "Ladies", you have all the rights to do anything you like to do, anything you want to wear, anywhere you want to go. They have their brains, when to say "No" & when to say "Yes" for something, so anyone should not tell them to do or what not to do. We feel so happy to see, "India" getting forward, but time to time, we show that we still are in the backside, when such brutal crimes are committed.
WE HAVEN'T LEARNED ANYTHING..!!

WE HAVEN'T LEARNED ANYTHING..!!
Well said Aayush. We're all so busy blaming someone else for the problems that we all face collectively that we forget to actually look into ourselves and reflect. People would say 'humari society hi aisi hai' , who makes the society? We, the people. The first step to change is changing mentalities. If we don't change our mentalities, if we don't learn to respect women and make our thinking more broad, no amount of laws would save another Nirbhaya... That's a fact.
ReplyDeleteSince our very childhoods, we are brought up in this manner- don't go out in evenings, don't wear this kind of clothing and blah blah. We are victims of a patriarchal and hypocritical society. We talk of traditional values? Well, does tradition tell you to disrespect women? It doesn't, it's our narrow interpretations and false justifications, that's it.
We need to be strong, fight for change and bring in the change. And it's not something just one or two of us can do, we all need to look at ourselves, realize the hypocrisy and false pretenses of modernity.
We need to become the change we're looking for... Till the day when we all are willing to change and work for change, India will be plagued by stagnation.
